Of course I talk about my work. I talk about it with strangers, I talk about it at openings. I talk about it with patrons. But honestly I don't spend a lot of time talking about it with other artists. Probably an insecurity thing. I mean it's one thing to discuss it with my best friend, my aunt or my husband...because well they have to like it. Or at least tell me they do. It's another thing to discuss my work with another painter that I admire.

So it was lovely and inspiring and insightful to have a full-blown painter confab last night with my studio mate Shannon Richardson. Shannon is a fabulous painter with an enviable resume and education. She is tiny and bold and talented and clever. So I listen to what she has to say. I won't bore you with the drawn out details of our conversation, but suffice it to say when our talk ended I was even happier that I get to do what I do.

It is such positive reinforcement when someone actually gets what you're doing on a little deeper level. My paintings are pretty, and they are colorful and they are detailed. But there is more...believe it or not there is a darker side to it all. But maybe I'll save that for another post on another day.

For now, I'll just say thanks Shannon!!!
